Abstract: During the “13th Five-Year Plan” Period, a number of environment-related energy indicators have achieved the anticipated goals. The air quality has improved and GHG emissions were under effective control. Major green energy and environmental protection projects have made significant progress, such as phasing out outdated production capacity, ultra-low emissions in key sectors, clean heating, green transportation and green building. Looking into the “14th Five-Year Plan” Period, energy efficiency and usage level will continue to raise, besides, energy structure will become cleaner, greener, and lower-carbon. The air will be cleaner and GHG emissions are approaching a peak. New energy technologies and business forms as well as more public participation will contribute to energy transition. In the whole, the task is not easy. Various types of existing and emerging problems need to be solved and constant efforts are needed.
